Joan Hindman Obituary
October 27, 1933 - May 21, 2025
Joan (Grant) Hindman, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2025, at the age of 91. Born in Omaha, Nebraska, on October 27, 1933, Joan lived a life marked by family, friends, making memories together, and always helping others. She volunteered at numerous nonprofits and charities, including 40+ years with Methodist Hospital comforting patients. Her warmth and kindness truly left a lasting impact on everyone she met.
A Celebration of Life service will be held in her honor at St. Paul United Methodist Church on Saturday, June 14th at 11:00 am, followed by a light lunch. So that we can plan accordingly, please RSVP at https://bit.ly/43pclU0.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Hindman, her brother, Don Grant, and her grandson, Grant Hindman. She is survived by her brother, Alex Grant, and three children-Mike Hindman, Steve Hindman, and Cyndi Busch. She was a proud grandmother to Wyleigh, Grant, Shawn, Erin, Luke, Alex, Ben, Amanda, Chris, and Corey, and just missed the arrival of her first great-grandchild, Jordyn, who was born the day after Joan passed-a poetic continuation of life that would have brought her great joy.
Joan was also an avid and accomplished bridge player, achieving the rank of Life Master. One of her proudest-and most entertaining-stories was the time she and her dear friend Marianne Bruner triumphed in a match against none other than Warren Buffett and his professional partner. Indeed, her life was full of grace, generosity, and grit. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in Joan's honor.
