Judy Dye Obituary

Judy Dye

February 4, 1946 - November 22, 2025

Judy B. Dye, age 79 (b. February 4, 1946), passed away peacefully on November 22, 2025 in Bellevue, Nebraska. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Lucille Brown, and is survived by her spouse of 45 years, Frank Dye; her two children and their spouses, Bret and Luanna Eikenberry and Angela Eikenberry and Griff Elder; five granddaughters, Ruthellen, Katelyn, Emily, and Alexandria Eikenberry and Elana Elder; and her siblings and their spouses, Mace and Dianne Brown and Karen and Billy Larimore.

A lifelong Omahan, Judy was deeply committed to her community. She attended St. Bridget's Parochial School, Ryan High School, and the Municipal University of Omaha, where she was a math major and played piccolo and flute in the marching band. She devoted more than five decades to the youth bowling community, beginning as a coach at just 14 years old. She went on to serve 25 years as president of the Nebraska youth bowling and as secretary of the Omaha youth bowling associations. In recognition of her extraordinary service, she was inducted into both the Nebraska and Omaha Bowling Halls of Fame. Her dedication extended to her professional life as well-she spent 47 years working at National Indemnity Company.

Judy loved all things Disney and could sing along to nearly every Disney song. She especially cherished trips to Disney World, making sure her granddaughters had the chance to experience the magic with her. No visit was complete without riding Test Track as many times as possible and visiting Journey into Imagination with Figment, her favorite Disney character. Figment's spirit of imagination mirrored Judy's own love of crafts. She scrapbooked every trip, and family and friends could always count on receiving a handmade crocheted blanket or cross stitch piece for birthdays, celebrations, and the many special moments in between. Her passions also extended to being an avid fan of the Omaha and KC Royals, Huskers, and Dolphins. She also loved traveling to National Parks and experiencing the beauty and wonder they offered.

A visitation service will be held Friday, December 5 at the John A. Gentleman Mortuary, Bellevue/Sarpy County Chapel, 3402 Samson Way, 5 to 7:00 p.m., with rosary service from 7 to 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held Saturday, December 6, 10:00am at St. Bridget's Catholic Church, 4112 S 26th St, Omaha. Graveside service will be held Monday, December 8, 11:00 a.m., at the Omaha National Cemetery, 14250 Schram Road.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the National Parks Foundation (https://www.nationalparks.org/).

Special thanks to the wonderful staff at Providence Place Memory Care at Richmont Terrace and Haven Hospice for their loving care.

Yesterday

I only met her once, but talked on the phone a few times. We lived just a couple of blocks apart. She moved out of our neighborhood a few years ago, but our neighborhood will miss her. God Bless.

I am so sad to lose Judy. We have been friends since 2nd grade. Our birthdays are a day apart so celebrated birthdays together a lot of times at the bowling alleys. We played piano duets at school recitals. We did sleepovers and on Saturday's we went to the Center theater to watch movies that her Dad did the projector. Went to Ryan High together and rode the bus everyday together and in winter waited in the Brown Derby to stay warm. We have kept in contact at Christmas every year and I tried to call on her birthday since she was older than me. When we had grade school reunions we were together. Will miss Judy so much.

Judy was also a long-time member and officer in the Midtown Business Association which is how I knew her. Several of us would meet to go out to eat lunch occasionally too. Judy was always happy and laughing. She was a wonderful person and will leave a hole in many hearts. I know she is laughing with Jesus right now, happy and at peace.
