Marvin Kohll Obituary
November 19, 1930 - August 16, 2024
A graduate of Omaha Central High School and the University of Nebraska's School of Pharmacy, Marvin, at age 27, was left in charge of the family's business, Kohll's Pharmacy, after his father died suddenly. Kohll's is now a fourth-generation business. During the Korean War, Marvin was stationed in Germany working for an army hospital. Just as a wise sage taught, Marvin "said little and did much." When not working, our patient patriarch enjoyed golfing with friends and family, a smooth drink on the rocks, the occasional cigar and relaxing in his favorite chair. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Leona and Louis J. Kohll, his beloved wife, Sandra, his son, Louis H. Kohll, and his brother, Jerry. He is survived by sons, Justin (Sara), and David (Janet), all of Omaha; daughter, Sarah (Rabbi Nosson) Meretsky of State College, PA, daughter-in-law, Ivy Kohll; 21 grandchildren; sister-in-law, Gail Kohll; nieces, nephews and friends. Services Sunday, Aug. 18th at 2:30 p.m. at Beth Israel Synagogue. Internment immediately following at Temple Israel Cemetery, 6500 N. 42nd St., Omaha. Please no flowers. Memorials requested to Chabad of Penn State, Rose Blumkin Jewish Home or Beth Israel Synagogue.

Happy Death Day, Marv! Some time has passed, as has my husband, Bob, that now I can remember with amusement how often Bob had breakfast with Marvin at 76th & Pacific. Breakfast was a ritual for many years. And I will never tell the contents of that often repeated breakfast that our good Jewish friend ate!
Once again, I am reminded that in the biblical sense, Marvin, was our generous "neighbor" that we loved. Thank you Friend; rest in peace.

Sending condolences to the Kohll family for their loss. Marvin was devoted to his family. He was a successful businessman and mentor to many people over the years. His many contributions to our community will be a lasting legacy. May God bless the Kohll family in this time of mourning.

My thoughts and prayers to the Kholl family. I had the privilege of taking care of Marvin at my time as a CNA at the JCC back in 2019. He was kind and loving. A gentleman.

The Kohll house was a home away from home to me. Marvin was quiet, but present. He provided for his family, including sports equipment for his kids and their friends. I was welcome to come and go as I pleased, to use the weight room.
Marvin led by example and I feel blessed to have known him.

My condolences to the entire Kohll family. Your father was quite a guy. He hired me away from Keystone Pharmacy in 1971 and put me in charge of the Crestwood store on South 60th street. During our interview he said something to me that I will never forget. Tom, he said, just be yourself, be straight at all times to our customers, and have empathy towards them, and our company will grow. Wise words from a wise man! I spent 13 wonderful years working for Marvin and Jerry mostly at the store on 74th and Pacific Streets. I never heard a bad word about your father, or your uncle, from anyone associated with Kohll's Pharmacies. Your father is at peace now, I thank him for being a positive influence in my life as a pharmacist.
