Matthew Mendlick Obituary
October 3, 1975 - October 15, 2023
Dr. Matthew Ryan Mendlick, age 48, of Omaha, ended his long, but courageous battle with brain cancer on October 15, 2023.
Matt was a dedicated husband, father, brother, son, physician, coach and fitness enthusiast who will forever be remembered for his unwavering positivity. Even in the face of a disease with a not-so-positive outcome, he lived every single day to the fullest and was a presence for his family for the past 15 years. Matt was always known for his work ethic and leadership. He was valedictorian of his Olathe South High School Class of 1994. He worked hard to walk on at Creighton University as a member of a final four soccer team. He was also class president of his medical school class at UNMC and graduated with honors. He finished residency in radiology at the University of Arizona and even took his boards after enduring a complicated surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation. He was a proud Creighton University Alum who had a terrific sense of humor and love for his family. You may recognize Matt from wearing his 'Superman' or 'Captain America' t-shirts around town; oftentimes matched with a pair of neon shorts.
Left to celebrate Matt's memory is his loving wife, Katie Mendlick; children, Lauren Mendlick, Ryan Mendlick and Mia Mendlick; father, Mike Mendlick; sisters, Amy Klein and Marcia (Dan) Walker; many other extended relatives and friends. Matt was preceded in death by his mother, Sharon Mendlick; and father-in-law, Chuck Rush.
Matt's family will receive friends for VISITATION at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church of Omaha, on Wednesday, October 18th, from 5 to 7 p.m., with a ROSARY SERVICE at 7 p.m. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be held Thursday, October 19th, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, with a PRIVATE FAMILY BURIAL to follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Everyone is encouraged to wear Creighton University or Head for the Cure apparel on Wednesday evening as they are able. Memorials are preferred to the Creighton University Athletics (www.creighton.edu/mendlick) or Head for the Cure (Give.headforthecure.org/mendlick).

Some of my best times when growing up was hanging at the Mendlick's from riding bikes playing ping pong his parents and sisters were always the best. Sure will be missed by all
