Matthew Petersen Obituary

In Loving Memory of Matthew Dale Petersen.

Matthew Petersen passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at the young age of 47 after a battle with cancer. He was born in Omaha, NE to Robert Lee and Leana Gail Petersen. From the beginning, Matt had the energy of ten people, a witty personality and spread laughter regardless of the situation. He will be forever remembered for his big heart, comedic personality, and unwavering love of his family. He was a great brother and a fun-loving father to his two daughters, Tayler Mae (20) and Hazel Grace (6). Matt was always an advocate for the underdog.

Matthew was such a blessing to his family and was equally blessed to have many loving and caring friends. He was passionate about his family, sports, classic cars, dogs and living life to the fullest. He was self-employed, had an amazing work ethic and loved his job of painting, repairing, and remodeling homes in the Omaha Metro area.

He is survived by his daughters, Tayler and Hazel Petersen; his girlfriend, Hillary Daschel; his parents, Robert & Leana Petersen; his brother, Robert (Bob) Petersen; his sisters, Joni Leonard (husband, Bob), Julie Petersen, Mary Beam, Dorrie Leeper (fiancé, Brian Adkins), and Sarah Daugherty (husband, Justin); many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, May 11th at 10:00 a.m. at Lifegate Church, located at 15555 W. Dodge Rd, Room 239, Omaha, NE 68154.

Cannot emphasize enough on his friendship and kindness towards me over the past 30 years. We have both been through and experienced allot of life's trial's and tribulations together. His examples of taking care of his Family and Business Integrity is unmatched. Matt's work philosophy is never stop until it's done and done right! Most recently and importantly, he came through for my Son, Julian de la Guardia, a young real estate agent and investor. My Son was running into high bids and sub par work. Unable to be there for my Son at this time to meet his needs, I was frustrated. Having not spoke with Matt for a couple of years (my fault), I recommended Matt to Julian, to see what he could get done for him. Matt was there like I had last talked to him yesterday! Treated my Son like his own, gave him quality work for a fair price on short notice on multiple projects, in my place. It's unbelievable he is gone. I was only able to thank him on the phone and not in person. Smh. Love you bro. Your gonna be missed by many. GOD BLESS THE BABY, YOUR DAUGHTER AND MOTHERS

Matt was my baby brother and one of my first best friends. We fought as kids but still had so much love for one another. As an adult, we didn't ever fight and he was always so loving to me when we saw each other. I lived miles away in other states for years and finally moved home a year ago. We had a great year together and I will cherish the memories for the rest of my life. I would give anything to have just one more day to hear him make me laugh. He was truly the funniest person I ever encountered. He was the best.

Matt's parents lived across the street from my in-laws. I watched all the kids grow up and play with our kids. After we moved I didn't see them much. Then we needed some work done on our house and it was Matt to the rescue. He was very good at what he did. Going to miss having him around. Praying for you all!
