Merry Coleman Obituary
January 9, 1947 - September 23, 2023
Preceded in death by grandparents Esther & Albin Anderson of Sweden, parents Don & Dorothy Nimrod of Omaha, sister Sunny Halbert, late husband Steve Johnson, and cousin George Nelson. Survived by loving husband Virgil Coleman of Arizona, sister Gay (Al) Giaffoglione, Goddaughter/niece Jennifer Ferris (and family), niece Sheila Stout (and family), nephew Mark Halbert, five step children, six step grandchildren, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and many dear friends. Merry was a flight attendant for 30 years and then built and ran "A Merry Occasion" - Omaha's first wedding chapel and hall - for 24 years. She wished she'd had time to throw one last party! Merry was the light in many lives and will be so dearly missed.
There will be no services - she has left her body to "Science Care".
Merry graduated from Omaha Central High School in 1965. Memorial donations can be made at https://chsfomaha.org/support/.

Merry was a bright light in so many lives. I met Merry at Central High and we've remained friends all these years. Merry kept our class together for many reunions and parties. She was a very talented and creative woman. I'm so happy she had Virgil with her the past few years. They had a very special love. RIP my dear friend. I'm so grateful you were in my life.

Merry and I have been friends since kindergarten at Windsor School in Omaha, NE and have stayed connected throughout her life. She was the person that kept our class at Central High School - class of 1965 - connected. Her love of life and family and friends is admired and cherished. Rest in peace Merry. God bless you Virgil for loving her and caring for her. She will forever be missed.

You were always known as Aunt Merry to me (Jen n I have been friends since 1987) and I remember when you first purchased what became A Merry Occasion near downtown Omaha. You really did wonders with that place! Things so wonderful that I married Darron in your chapel Sept 4, 2004. I know that you helped create many dear memories with so many couples over the years you kept your business open. I am forever grateful that our paths in life crossed on this side of the equation. May you peacefully Rest In Heaven.

I net Merry late in life but I wished I would have met her sooner. I knew her for almost 6 years. We were married for 16 months and 1 day then God took her. I will love you forever, Merry Coleman. Till we meet again in heaven. Love you.

I´m a very old friend of Merrys and I´m saddened by her passing. We were neighbors growing up in Omaha and than attended Omaha Central High. I will be remembered for ever! Merry always had a smile on her face and kind words for all! She was an entrepreneur and very creative! We have not spoken in many years, but she has always been in my thoughts and my heart!
