I don'y think anyone will ever know how much Mike touched everyone he came into contact with. His beautiful spirit and loving aura made everyone feel at home in his presence. Even though camping with him is the main memory I will keep, nothing will stop me from thinking about him day to day, and I know that we are all hurt by such a great loss. But everyone knows God only takes the best, and Mikey was definitely one of them. I can't wait until I see you again Mike, save a spot by the bon fire.
Love,
Riley, Wanda, and Bailey Cullen.

I only got to know Mike in the last 4-5 years. He and Jan started hanging out with all of us from "the neighborhood", and Mike quickly became accepted into the group.
Mike was fun loving, and we enjoyed his sense of humor. He could be trusted to do what he said, and would tell you straight up if he had a problem with you.
Most of all, Mike was a humble guy.
One night a few years back, we were somewhere having beers as usual, and I was curious what Mike did for a living.
When I asked, he gave me a quick answer that he worked for Blue Cross.
I kept prying until he finally told me what he did in detail.
I can tell you that I was very surprised when I found out how succesful Mike was at BCBS.
Not that I didn't think Mike was smart and hard-working, quite the opposite. It was obvious Mike was a talented and determined guy.
I was surprised because in all the time I had been around Mike, he never once talked about work, and how challenging his day-to-day duties must have been.
He didn't complain about work, so he must have really liked what he did.
But the main point is I never once heard him brag about what a big-shot he was at work. I never heard Mike brag about anything, and he had plenty to be proud of.
That's what I'll always remember about Mike. His humility was inspiring.
That's what I'll try to take and insert into my everyday life from now on in his honor.
Mike - I'll see you on the other side when The Lord calls me home. Until then, we will all watch out for Jan for you.
I know you and Bill Jennings are riding your bikes with angel wings as I write this.
Ride on boys, The Lord has brought you safely home.
Love,
Tom Wright

I worked with Mike and had the pleasure of working under him when he moved to the Claims Director position in the Benefits area of Blue Cross. Although his time with us was short he made a positive impact on me. He was always there to help if needed. I will miss him.

Uncle Mike was such a great person. He always knew how to make you smile or cheer you up. I remember all the great times we had at the cabin even though I was jus a little guy. He was the first person to let me drive and to take me tubing. When I was little we did ever thing together. I will never forget and always love him.

Our family lived next door to Mike and his family when we were children and grew up together. Sadly as we grew up, married, and moved away, we didn't get the chance to see each other as we should have. I regret that. Such fun we had playing (and fighting) together as kids. Mike aggravated the heck out of us girls and was best friends with our brother David. Not having organized sports, we spent summers swimming at Hanscom Park, having "dirt clod" fights, and nailing roller skates to the bottom of suitcases and riding down the alley! How quickly the years have flown! Where did they go? I am fortunate to have shared a piece of my life on Pierce Street with Mike, Sandy, Randy and the rest of the gang. I too remember his smile and his humor. My sympathies to his family. God Bless

I had the pleasure of working with Mike on several projects and he was such a great guy to work with and always made me feel like he really cared about the project we were working on! He was such an incredible man and always had a smile on his face! His BCBSNE family will greatly miss him and we will never forget the greatness that he brought to everything he touched! Our thoughts and prayers are with you Jan and your family. Thank you for letting his BCBSNE family share in his Celebration of his Life--he was truly loved and respected by us all!

Mike will be missed by all who knew him. We have had a lot of great times & are so fortunate we had him in our lives. Although God took him too soon he will be with us in our hearts forever. Remember the good times and the big teddy bear he was. Always willing to give a hug and smile. One memory I will always have is canoeing/tubing down the Niobrara among so many others! We are here for you and continue to pray for strength during this most difficult time.

Mike, will always be in my heart. He helped me swim as a child up at the cabin near the river. And was always there to pick me up when I tripped and fell, he was not my father, but was a good figure in my life. And I will never forget all of those boat rides, and late nights listening to music at the cabin with Mike & Jan and the kids. He will be forever missed.

My deepest condolences to the Brannen family. While you all know how incredibly special Mike was, I hope you all know that his “work” family felt the exact same way about him. Mike was a wonderful man that many of us deeply cared for and highly respected. He was a man of great integrity and someone that would do absolutely anything to help anyone. As hard as he worked, it was obvious to us all that his family and friends were his life and love. The world truly needs more men like Mike. May the memories of his laughter and love be with you always.
