Paul Tranisi Obituary

Tranisi, Paul Michael

October 5, 1955 - May 21, 2024

Paul Tranisi's singing voice went silent on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. A profoundly talented actor, Paul was an active member of the Omaha arts community until his death. He played Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof, Captain Von Trapp in The Sound of Music, and The King in The King And I, among numerous other roles. Before this, Paul was a newspaper boy, model plane builder, firework pyrotechnic, and a lifelong lover of Coca-Cola and Chef Boyardee Ravioli. He was a Halloween fiend and a regular at Vala's Pumpkin Patch, bringing family and friends together each fall for his beloved bonfire parties. We are certain his spirit will frequent Big Fred's and spaghetti dinners at St. Frances Cabrini & the Sons of Italy. A season ticket holder, Paul inherited a Huskers mania mentality from his father and could be found in the south stadium most Saturdays each autumn sharing Valentino's, having a laugh, and using Runzas as hand warmers. Lancaster County will remember Paul as the collector of an obscene number of parking tickets from his college years at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Exceptionally talented in marketing and creative roles, Paul was a leader and mentor in Omaha and Kansas City. We will miss the way Paul's voice could fill a cathedral, and think of his baritone when "O Holy Night" plays. His light will continue to shine in the art and photography he leaves behind. Later in life, Paul became a dog magnet, and is survived by his four-legged companion, Bijou. Son to Dr. Carl and Marie Tranisi. Cherished brother to Carla (Randy), Christie (Craig), Frank (Rita), Jim (Cori), and Rita (Stuart). Remarkable uncle to Chris (Roger), Darian (Melynda), Aliana, Gina, Marisa, Nicholas, Sophia, and Lauren. Devoted spouse to Nicole, adoring stepfather to Jordan & Reese, and dear friend to many more. Paul's role in the Tranisi family can never be reprised, and we will miss him always. The best departures are simple. As Paul himself often said, "Bye now."

We’re so sorry we can’t be at your celebration of life. If anybody deserves such a celebration it’s you, my friend.
You are truly one of a kind with so many facets to you. I know your family will miss as much as you KETV family.
You were and are a special person. I never left our conversations without a smile or a chuckle!
Now you are performing for the kings!
Rest in Love, Paul!

Paul was a dear friend and I´ll miss everything about him. I´ll definitely miss our conversations about the Huskers and attending games together. He´ll be in my heart this year when watching the games.

One thing I´ll especially remember when conversing with Paul, is how much enjoyed being a father figure to his stepdaughters. It was clear he had an amazing relationship with them. It´s not always easy to become part of a family like he did. But unsurprisingly, Paul made it all more beautiful. I believe he should and would want to be remembered as a fantastic stepfather to two amazing girls. I´ll miss you my friend and all your wonderfulness.

I'm so sorry to hear of Paul's passing. My dad and his dad were lifelong friends and his dad was our family doctor for many years. Paul lent his beautiful voice to our dad's service when he passed. Love and prayers to his family.
