Richard Arnold Obituary

Richard Henry Arnold, "Dick" or "Dicky," was born in Fort Dodge IA, on August 28, 1940, to Harry and Marguerite (Cunningham) Arnold and passed October 17, 2022, in Omaha, NE. He attended St. Edmonds High School in Fort Dodge, graduated in 1958, then served in the United States Army in Korea. He graduated from the Des Moines School of Business, received a BA in Accounting from Ferris State University, Big Rapids, MI in 1972 then served with the Internal Revenue Service, and VA Hospitals in MN and NE. Interment: Omaha National Cemetery, Dec. 5th, 2022 at 3:30 pm, all welcome.

Dick survived scarlet fever as a toddler with the help of an older sister Jeanne, a recent (1939) nursing graduate, who moved back home to care for him. Although he enjoyed bird hunting, fishing, cooking, music, and travel, his greatest passion was his kids. He had a contagious sense of humor, told great stories of fixing cars in the pouring rain, loved his daughter's oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, and made the best biscuits and gravy.

Dick was preceded in death by both parents; father and mother-in-law Ray and Mary Black; siblings James, Joseph, Thomas, John Arnold; Jeanne Brodsack, Rose Lee Crawford, Edna McCullough, and Julie Simpson. Dick is survived by wife Mary Louise Arnold, Omaha, NE; children Kimberly (Hal) Arnold-Walker, Kris Arnold, Katharine (James) Arnold-Carter, Kevin (Nichole) Arnold, and Kari (Nigel) Arnold (no, the K's were not intentional, but always a fun topic at holiday gatherings); grandchildren Cameron and Coryn Walker, Aspen, Owen, Sterling, Jack and Ben Arnold; siblings Dave Arnold and Mary Lou Johnson; and seemingly endless nieces and nephews. We miss you dad, husband, uncle, brother, friend. Photo: Richard, left, Ben (grandson), right.
