Eicher, Dr. Robert Stanley
May 3, 1927 - May 3, 2012

Age 85 of Lincoln. Died after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's. Bob was born on a farm west of Milford, NE to Stanley and Ruby (Smith) Eicher. He graduated from Milford High in 1944, and served his country for 2 years in the US Army. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in Business in 1950, and subsequently earned his Master's and Doctorate in Education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Dr. Eicher was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Duane and Ken; and wife, Janice who passed away on May 10, 2011. He is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Cathy and Rick MacInnes, Omaha, Nancy Eicher, Minneapolis, Diane and Doug Caulkins, Denver; grandchildren, Alissa Alden MacInnes Johnson (Beau), Amy Kaye MacInnes (fiancé Dan Podlesak), Kyle Lynn Caulkins, and Corey Robert Caulkins; brother, Derald (Dee) Eicher, Lincoln; sister Margie Hendrick, Boulder, CO; and many nieces and nephews. Bob was the first President of Southeast Community College, a position he held until 1992. During his distinguished tenure as President, the Lincoln campus was built and the school grew to serve 15 counties in southeastern Nebraska. He played a key role in founding the SCC Foundation, and served as Foundation Chair until 2011. In honor of his many contributions to SCC, the main classroom building on the Milford campus was named the Robert S. Eicher Technical Center. Bob was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church, and a former member of Trinity United Methodist Church, both in Lincoln.
MEMORIAL SERVICE 11am Thursday, May 10, at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, 8550 Pioneer's Blvd., with Pastor Wayne Alloway, officiating. Burial 9am in Pleasant View Cemetery, Milford. VISITATION Wednesday, May 9, 6-7:30pm at Roper and Sons, 4300 "O" Street. Memorials to the Southeast Community College Foundation; St. Mark's United Methodist Church; or Pleasant View Cemetery, Milford.
