June 8, 1942 - November 20, 2021

Retired Master Sergeant Ronald Joseph Heinz, age 79, of Neenah WI, passed away at Cherry Meadows Hospice on Saturday, November 20, 2021. Ronald was born on June 8, 1942 in Sherwood WI, son of the late Edward and Rose (Heidger) Heinz. Upon graduation Ron enlisted in the U.S Air Force. He was stationed in Germany for a time and then Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska where he was involved in communications. Ronald married Joan Ebben who survives him. He retired from Offutt in 1984. After retirement, he worked at the Omaha Post Office on Pacific St. Ronald was involved in many different organizations, including the VFW, American Legion, The Eagles and Vets and Friends. He also was a Webelo leader, a member of the German-American Society and was a Fourth Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus. In Bellevue NE, Ronald worked for Habitat for Humanity assisting with building homes. He also enjoyed his involvement with Meals on Wheels in Nebraska, teaching C.C.D-Sunday School in Maine as well as being the Fire Chief at Bucks Harbor Radar Site in Maine. From 1965 until 2019, Ronald loved traveling in the R.V. with his wife, Joan. They belonged to five national R.V. clubs, four different chapters, of which he was President of two.

Ronald is survived by his wife, Joan, married 19 days shy of 56 years; his children, Theresa (Mark) Brockmeyer, born in Antigo WI, and Brian J. (Cheryl) Heinz born in Grand Forks, ND on base; his granddaughter, Julia (finance', Eric Schroeder); and great-grandchildren, Kaleb and Brennan. He was the youngest of 13 and all of his siblings preceded him in death. Ronald loved God, County, and Family.

FUNERAL SERVICES will be held at 2:30pm on Friday, February 18, at the Kessler Funeral Home, 304 S. Commercial Street, Neenah, WI. VISITATION will be from 2pm until the time of Services. Full Military Honors will be conducted following the Funeral Service. The family requests NO FLOWERS, and memorials may be directed to St. Pius X Catholic Church, Appleton or the Neenah Animal Shelter. For online condolences, please visit: www.kesslerfh.com

The family would like to express thanks to Dr. Phillip Bierman, retired Oncologist from Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, for giving Ronald, Joan and family extra years together as well as Bethany Home in Waupaca, Theda Care Neenah and Cherry Meadows Hospice for all of the excellent care given to Ronald.

I am so sorry to hear of Ron´s passing! He was always so nice, and I remember him being funny-probably where Brian got his sense of humor. I had no idea your dad did all of those amazing things, and that was a life well-lived! Pretty special!!! You are all in my thoughts and prayers!
