Stanley Schrier Obituary

Stanley Schrier

July 5, 1935 - April 1, 2025

Stan Schrier, son of late Morris and Dorothy Schrier- a devoted family man, visionary businessman, and fierce competitor, passed away on April 1, 2025, at the age of 89. His life was one of hard work, determination, and an unwavering commitment to his loved ones.

Born on July 5, 1935, Stan attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he earned a business degree. During his time in college, he met the love of his life, Felicia, and together they built a marriage that lasted 60 years, filled with love, laughter, and an unbreakable bond.

Before embarking on his business career, Stan proudly served his country, deploying to Lebanon for two years. His time in the service shaped his strong work ethic, resilience, and appreciation for the value of perseverance.

After his deployment and college graduation, Stan joined his father in the family grocery business, Schrier's Grocery. Through grit and business acumen, he expanded the company from a single store to three grocery stores and three liquor stores. After two decades, he sold Schrier's Grocery and founded Food4Less, growing it into a successful chain of 17 stores. His leadership in the industry earned him a place on the board of the United Grocer's Association.

Stan's competitive spirit extended beyond business. He was an avid racquetball player, winning nearly every tournament he entered. A self-taught poker player, he studied the game through books and went on to achieve an impressive third-place finish at the World Series of Poker.

While Stan's professional and athletic accomplishments were remarkable, his greatest joy was his family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Felicia, and his daughter, Jill Folsom (Jim). He is survived by his son, Jeff Schrier (Jill Yechout); his daughter, Julie Ginsberg (Bennett); his grandchildren, Eden Ginsberg (Joe Griffith), Elias Ginsberg, Adam Folsom (Madison Janky), and Alec Folsom; Isaiah Schrier, Ian Schrier (Alyssa); and two great-grandchildren, Levi and Colt. He also leaves behind his beloved dogs: Millie, Daisy, Ruby, Lola, Zoey, and Miles.

Stan's legacy is one of perseverance, success, and love for his family. His impact on those who knew him will never be forgotten. Graveside services to be held at Beth El Cemetery on Friday April 4th at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Nebraska Humane Society.
