June 6, 1952 - April 28, 2024
Steven Edward Hines, age 71, of Omaha, passed away on April 28, 2024. He was a beloved son of Alberta Hines; a cherished brother of Leslie Hines, Gwendolyn Seba, Jane Schaaf, Rowena Johnson, and Thomas Hines.
Steven was preceded in death by his father, Phillip Hines. Steven was a dedicated First Lieutenant and Financial Officer who served four years in Korea. He also played basketball for the military. He excelled in his career, being an All State All Conference basketball player and a talented musician, singing in front of large crowds. His academic achievements were remarkable, maintaining straight A's throughout school. Steven played college basketball for Yankton University on academic scholarships and won a one-on-one tournament among 30 other colleges.
He was a spiritual Christian who had a deep understanding of the Bible. Steven's hobbies included fishing, watching sports, reading, playing chess, cooking, dancing, and watching shows like The Voice and American Idol. He was known for his generosity, love for his family, his exceptional storytelling and joke-telling abilities.
A MEMORIAL SERVICE in honor of Steven will be held at Roeder's Funeral Home, 4932 Ames Avenue, Omaha, on Monday, May 6th, at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to a charity of your choice in memory of Steven Hines.

My sympathy to Steve's family. I worked at PVS when Steve was there. He was in the office on light duty. He was a true gentleman. Always friendly and kind.
