It is with our deepest sorrow and wonder that we share the news regarding the death of Steven Paul Smith of Omaha Nebraska on Thursday, September 21, 2023, aged 79. Steve died in the loving presence of his wife and son. Steve was a beloved husband, an Air Force Veteran, a father, grandfather, and great-great grandfather. While death is one of life's most challenging experiences, the immediacy of Steve's passing has not been without grace, beauty, and humor, a testament to his vibrant spirit. His friendly eyes and boisterous laugh brought joy to every room he was in, and while we'll always long for the sound of that laughter, the impact he left on those he knew has made a lasting impression that will never fade. Steve is survived by his loving wife, Kristi Lynn (McDonough); children: Heidi (Daryl) Vaught, Michael Smith, Stephanie (Brian) Rose; grandchildren: Stephanie Smith, Jolynn (Cody) Marshall, Jhonathan Paczkowski, Triston and Anna Wilson; Kody McVay, Devin, Melina, Logan and Benjamin Smith; great-grandchildren Robert Stella, Baylor and Kinsley Paczkowski, and Leondre Tiemeyer; and his adoring Bichon pooch, Goliath.

A funeral service in celebration of Steve's life will be held on Wednesday September 27, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of the Holy Spirit: 1305 Thomas Dr, Bellevue, NE 68005. He will be laid to rest at the Omaha National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Military Honors: Offutt Air Base Honor Guard.
