Timothy Hoffman Obituary

Hoffman, Timothy Lewis

Timothy Lewis Hoffman, of Bellevue, Nebraska, died peacefully at his home on February 13, 2021 at the age of 70 years young, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 42 years, Denise (Dennie), adoring sons Zach (Jessica) of Omaha and Brett (Stephanie) of Kearney, sister Trudy (Charles) Shaiffer of Pocahontas, Arkansas and numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Lola (Parks) Hoffman of Syracuse, Nebraska.

Tim was born in November of 1950 in Pawnee City, Nebraska. As a talented athlete and student, he would go on to spend his high school, college and adult years playing and coaching basketball – the sport he loved most. After graduation from Kearney State College, Tim happily devoted 41 years of his life to others at multiple school districts throughout Nebraska including Gretna, Clay Center, David City, Murray-Conestoga, Bellevue and Omaha. One of Tim's proudest coaching moments was leading his Gretna Dragons to the 1982 boys Class B State Championship. Whether on the court or in the halls, Tim impacted the lives of his players, students and faculty alike as a mentor, educator, coach, and friend.

Yet, despite his many career and coaching accolades, Tim's greatest achievements were that of devoted husband and loving father. He knew profound joy and pride in watching his sons grow and succeed in their endeavors and he always relished time spent with family and friends. You would find Tim equally at peace on the golf course, in the fishing boat or sitting down for a good card game – if you don't bring your own nickels, he was happy to lend you a few. He shared his life with us as we traveled together, traded stories and spent cherished moments over good meals with even better company. By his own admission, Tim never found an ice cream that was unacceptable.

Through his kindness, generosity, gentle confidence and love for family and friends, his was a life well spent. He will be missed, but never forgotten.

I am saddened to hear of the passing of Tim. He was my roommate for our Senior year at Kearney State. We had many conversations about sports and life. I enjoyed watching Tim play BB for the Lopers. Sad that distance and time prevented me from continuing our friendship. He will be missed.

So sorry to see his passing. He was a good leader at Conestoga and his sons were top notch to have in class. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

Tim was a very good friend. We had many "interesting " times in Syracuse, Nebraska City, and Kearney . We were college roommates at Kearney for a year. He was a good man, good ball player, and a good friend. God Bless you and your family . . .
