Survived by 2 daughters, Talisha McGaugh, Omaha; DeAmber Prater, San Antonio, TX; father, James E. Prater, 2 brothers, Scott Prater and Shawn Prater; grandmother, Kathleen Curtis, Omaha; 1 grandchild; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Wake 6-8pm Wednesday. FUNERAL SERVICE at 2pm Thursday, both at the Thomas Chapel. Cremation. THOMAS FUNERAL HOME

It has been a little over 10 years and the void is the same. Little does anyone know I often read these messages to help with coping the loss of my father. In this 10 year span life has changed drastically, some of the people who left words of encouragement are no longer with us, my sister Talisha and I have both birthed beautiful children, Talisha got married, my Uncle Muff (Shawn) became a grand-father to a handsome baby boy. My cousin Marcus is back home with us doing great. Life has definitely been interesting to say the least. I know that my father would be proud of his girls. We both own our own businesses (we got entrepreneurship from him) her is called Primped & Polished and mine is Yohancé Dres. We are maintaining. I can speak for both of us that we needed this time to heal and become whole again from this entire ordeal. I am thankful for my mother, my sister, grandmother, uncles, Mama Felisa, Keisha, and Uncle Stanley Lester cause they stood 10 toes down on what they meant by saying that they are going to be here for us no matter what. Daddy, the pain will never go away and I have accepted that, but I have found comfort in knowing that your spirit is with me at all times and I am apart of your DNA/identity. I hope and pray that you are resting well. I love you and I miss you. -Babygirl.

Wow it has taken me almost a month to settle into to this. After all the arrangements were made, after all the people had left. We are still left in a daze. Head filled with memories of the past. Whether they were good, bad or ugly, you were an important part of our life. We loved you for who you were and we will miss you for what we have lost.
As painful tears ran down my face
I remember how we met the time & place
How my heart stopped when I caught your eye
The feeling in my heart was never a lie
Confused and let down I ask myself why
With the only thing left to is cry
I will love you forever you will always be mine

Dad, Talisha, DeAmber, Scott, & Shawn this has been a struggle, but I have asked for God to take you all and wrap you in his arms for this too shall pass. This is a strong family and with prayer and each other support, we can accomplish anything. I love you all.

Okay so I finally have the strength to write on here. Daddy I am so... greatful that God has chosen you to be my father. I am hurtng physically & emotionally just from knowing that your not here on earth with us anymore. Its crazy cause YOU were the last person I seen before I left to come back to Texas, before I went in the house I told you I love you && "see you when I come back". Oh I seen you alright, but it wasnt suppose to be like this. I just thought of our future just me being able to come to you whenever I felt like I needed to talk to you. I will treasure every single moment that I've spent with you. It will be hard to grow up without you being here physically. But I know you will always be standing beside me & guideing me in the direction that I need to go. Squeaky, Scott, Shawn(Muff), Talisha, and my baby DeAmber hold on and be strong. I would like to let everyone know that the Prater family is a strong, loving, and blessed family. Thank you Mr. Prater for nurturing Todd into the man that blessed many. Thank you to the brothers who loved on "Todd's Girls" (Talisha and Amber) unconditionally. Most of all Todd thank you for blessing me with a part of you that I will cherish for an eternity. I don't know why this happen to such a wonderful person, but what I do know is "Trust in the Lord with "all" thy God heart and lean not to your own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path. God Bless each of you. I know each of you have called on the Lord, trust me He heard every word, cry and sigh.
