William Foeman Obituary

Foeman, Bishop
William H.
May 4, 1939 - Oct 9, 2012

Bishop William H. Foeman was born on May 4, 1939 to the parents of William H. Foeman, Sr. and Julia Foeman in New York City. He and his older sister Yvonne (deceased) grew up in a loving home with friends and extended family nearby. Bishop Foeman completed New York City Public primary and secondary school. Soon after graduation from George Washington High School he entered the Navy. Following his honorable discharge he returned to New York. Christened in the AME church, Bishop Foeman's spiritual demeanor was noticed at an early age. In 1963 he joined the First Church of Deliverance in the Bronx, NY. Serving in various capacities, he was a dutiful and dependable member. In July 1968, while attending the National Congress of Metropolitan Spiritual Churches of Christ, he received the call to the ministry. He received his license to preach and was ordained by the late Reverend Clarence Cobbs and Reverend Roy Johnson on June 23, 1970. In 1972, he went on to earn a Bachelor of Theology from the Manhattan Bible Institute. In 1974, Bishop Foeman received a divine call to missionary duties in Africa. He subsequently served in Liberia and Ghana for ten years. In Ghana, Bishop Foeman was installed as King Nana Obu-Obi Anash IV. Upon his return to the states he was called to pastor Mount Calvary Community Church (Omaha, NE) and was installed on November 6, 1983. In November, 1996 he was consecrated to the office of Bishop of the 1st and 10th District of Western Missouri, Kansas, and Nebraska, as well as for Ghana and Liberia. Bishop Foeman dedicated his entire life to sharing the gift of joy bestowed upon him by God. He leaves to cherish his memory his nephew, Steven B. Skinner; niece, Sheila Beverly-Skinner; great-nephew, Malcolm Skinner; and great-niece, Niani Skinner. He will always be lovingly remembered by life-long friends and adopted sisters, Rose Hunt, Elaine Copeland, and Audrey Hassell. He will also be dearly missed by his Ghanaian family including Frank Bruce, Samuel Quartey, Bill Quartey, and Seth Quartey. Indeed the list of friends and colleagues who will miss his presence, ever-ready smile, sense of humor, ability to consistently "take the high road," and willingness to always provide a helping hand is simply too long to enumerate. His spirit shall remain in our hearts for the rest of our days.

To the family of Bishop Foreman: God bless you all. Bishop Foreman was an outstanding person in all areas. He will be missed by everyone that knew him. I am so sorry that he passed. There are so many wonderful things that he did in his life time. He never met a stranger you were his friend if you knew the Lord then you were his Sister or Brother. He loved everybody and was always ready to help anyone. He was in Africa for 10 years but he also started 10 Churches there. They all Loved him and thought he was rich. They always told him to send them things like Bibles or other items smile. Then they would send people here for him to look after . He would do what ever he could for them. God Bless all of you. It was truely and honor to service this extraordinary man of God. I will never forget the life lessons and teaching's that you have taught me. Bishop Foeman will be truly missed,I am so glad I had the honor and privilege to be raised under his Ministry,When I joined Mt. Calvary @ the age of 15. "He said their is a special place here at the church for you". Those words has followed me all my life Because he made sure I was involved with something. Everybody knows Bishop Foeman Loved his youth at his church I loved the fact that he took the time to get to know all of his young members and he treated us like we were his children. His support was so greatly appreciated in everything we did @ church Just knowing when you looked up at the pulpit. He as sitting there in his sit gracing you with a smile that made you feel like he is so graceful for your presence. I thank you for doing your Father's work and for molding me into the spritiual young lady that I am today.I thank you also for being the " Light of Mt. Calvary" May you Rest in Peace and forever watch over our Church.
