Woodrow Fiala Obituary

Woodrow "Woody" Fiala

July 25, 1941 - September 27, 2025

Woodrow Thomas Fiala Jr. "Woody" was born on July 25, 1941 in Omaha, NE to Woodrow Sr. and Anne (Fitle) Fiala. He grew up in Omaha, graduating from Westside High School. On September 18, 1965, he married Ann Melia and they raised three sons together, Tripp, Tony and Trevor.

Woody worked in the trucking industry, taking over Acme Cartage Inc. from his father and continuing the family business that was started by his grandfather, Milo, in 1908. In 1970, Woody and Ann purchased a cabin at Vencil's Island, and the whole family loved spending time together there. Woody liked being able to hunt, fish, and enjoy some beers. The whole family often got together for holidays at the cabin.

Farmer Brown's was Woody's favorite restaurant, he like to cheer for the Huskers duringfootball and volleyball season, and he enjoyed country & western music. He was incredibly hard-working, giving, and had a deep love for his family. He had a larger-than- life personality and lived life to the fullest.

Woody was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Anne; wife, Ann; and sisters, Jannine and Janell. He is survived by his sons, Tripp (Monique), Tony (Tanya), and Trevor (Ava); grandchildren: Nate (Bella), Mackenzie (Danny), Payton, Audrey, Kinsley, and Callie; great granddaughter, Mila; and sister Gayle (Bob) Saffer.

Woody was such a good guy! I have so many great memories of card games, parties and just hanging out on the porch. I´m sure all the River Rats are together playing cards and having a great time together. Take care of each other kids.

I am so sorry to hear of your families loss. Woody always made the day better when he came into Farmers. The Halloweens were a surprise to see how he would enter and the way he made us feel was the best. Again so sorry and sorry I am unable to be there but know I am thinking of all of you all.
