Charles Carver Obituary

WAMPSVILLE - Charles R. Carver, 72, of 201 Daniels Drive, died Saturday morning, March 5, 2011, at his residence following a brief illness. He was born Jan. 13, 1939, in Oneida, the son of Erwin and Estella Birmingham Carver. On Nov. 10, 1978, he was united in marriage to the late Ann Brophy. Mrs. Carver died Jan. 4, 2007.
Mr. Carver had been the maintenance supervisor for the Oneida Housing Authority for 15 years, retiring in 1996. He was previously employed with Oneida Foundry and had done roofing and factory work. He was a 1956 graduate of Vernon-Verona-Sherrill High School. Mr. Carver was a veteran of the Korean War, having served with the U.S. Army from 1956-1958. Charlie was a loving, kind and caring husband, father and grandfather. In earlier years he was a founding parent of the Durhamville Little League.
Surviving is his loving family, Clint and Laura Carver of Marcellus, Charles R. Carver II of Baldwinsville, Brenda Moran of Youngstown, Sally and Rob Williamson of Ransomville, Kelly and Chris Batejan of New Jersey, Donald and Jennifer Pexton Jr. of New Hampshire, Kathleen Pexton of Rochester, Susan and Donald Conley of Nashville and Jeannie Pexton Reifschneider of Oneida; a brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Shirley Carver of Freedom, Pa.; a special niece and her husband, Tonya and Paul Reynolds of Harmony, Pa.; and several other nieces and nephews; as well as 13 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Clifford and two grandsons.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at 5 p.m. from the Coolican-McSweeney Funeral Home, 322 Washington Ave., Oneida, N.Y., with the Rev. Colleen Preuninger, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Oneida, officiating. Friends may call on Wednesday from 3 to 5 p.m. preceding the service. Spring interment will be made in Verona Cemetery.

I am so sorry to hear that Mr. Carver has passed. The thought of him just brought back many childhood memories at Durhamville Elementary with Clint. Mr. and Mrs. Carver were such wonderful people and their kindness made a difference in many lives.
