ONEIDA-Deborah A. Wimett, 57, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 9, 2021, at the Oneida Healthcare Center.She was born in Oneida on September 17, 1963, the daughter of John and Phyllis Willbanks Lighthall. Debbie was raised in Oneida and was a graduate of Oneida High School Class of 1981. Debbie had worked at the Route 5 SAVON for numerous years. She later went on to find her passion as a Teacher’s Aide for BOCES. She worked in the VVS School District assisting with special needs students. Debbie excelled in her position and held a special bond with all her students. She was also a lover of dogs, and many were loved and cared for in her life. Debbie will be remembered as a kind soul, and will be missed by all who loved her.She is survived by her children, Brad Wimett of Cazenovia, and Sarah Wimett of Camden; her grandchildren: Carmen, Christopher, Charley, Triston and Chole; her parents: Phyllis Lighthall of Oneida, and John and Nancy Lighthall of Canastota; and her brother David J. Lighthall of Colorado; her constant companion Chris Wheeler of Oneida; her step-sisters Wendy Warner of Canastota; and Doreen Kotwica of Verona; several nieces and nephews. Debbie was predeceased by her sister Donna Lighthall and her step brother Scott Seifert.Debbie's family would like to thank Oneida Healthcare Center’s, Dr. McKay, Dr. Vanderhoof, nurses, and all other medical providers who had provided compassionate care to Debbie.In keeping with Debbie’s wishes, there are no services or calling hours at this time.
