Donna Bielby Hawelka

1931 - 2016

VERONA BEACH >> Donna Bielby Hawelka, 84, Simpsonville, S.C. and Verona Beach, N.Y. passed away peacefully Sunday, Jan. 3, 2016 at home.
Born in Oneida, on July 27, 1931, she was the daughter of Spencer and Ernestine Carrier Campbell. A lifelong resident of this area until this past fall, Donna was a graduate of Vernon-Verona-Sherrill High School. She married Dr. Joseph E. Hawelka in Verona Beach, on Nov. 28, 1980. Dr. Hawelka died on Aug. 10, 2007.
Donna was a wonderful mother, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many. All who knew her were touched by her…she was a remarkable woman…so gracious, compassionate and kind…with a contagious laugh. She was so loving and proud of her family. She will be missed by all that had the privilege to know her and love her, as her entire family was touched by her remarkable spirit. She loved walking her dogs, backyard barbeques and playing Skip-Bo. Although she was taken from their lives, her family was given the luxury to have her and she will always be with them. With her leaving them so gracefully, her passing is a testimony in itself of how much the Lord loved her.
Surviving are three daughters, Joanne and Samuel Zeiders and Wendy and Keith Mulvaney, all of Simpsonville, S.C. and Tammy Gartrell and her companion, Earl Paluck of Sherrill; one son, Michael Bielby of Simpsonville; S.C.; two sisters, Marlene Bielby of Canastota and Suzanne Janes of Blossvale; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill and Kathy Hawelka of Cornelius, N.C.; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A brother, Terry Campbell, died in 1990 and her beloved pet dog, Spike who also predeceased her.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m., Saturday from the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Main St., Oneida, with the Rev. Brian Fellows, officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home, 1-3 p.m., Saturday, prior to the service. Contributions, in her memory, may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38015.
