Ernestine B. Jeffris

SHERRILL-Ernestine B. Jeffris, 93, Marshall Place, died Monday, January 15, 2024, in the Katherine Luther Home, where she had been a resident for the past two weeks.Born on the family farm in the Town of Verona, on August 24, 1930, she was the daughter of Joseph R. and Edith M. House Butler. A lifelong resident of the area, Ernestine was a graduate of the former Verona High School. She married Glen A. Jeffris in Oneida, on Janaury 8, 1949. Glen died on November 5, 2015.Ernestine enjoyed oil painting and doing crossword puzzles, but family gatherings were very special to her.Surviving are her two daughters, Carol (Mel) Mack of Oneida Castle and Ruth Ann (Ed) Schulze of New York Mills; her son-in-law, Joel Thomas of Vernon; her five grandchildren, Chad Mack, Todd Thomas, Tara Chadderdon, Nathan and Jared Hartman; her sister, Florence La Rock of Oneida; her brother, John (Linda) Butler of Oneida; eleven great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Sharon Thomas on January 28, 2022, her granddaughter, Melissa Fuller on February 11, 2021, two sisters and seven brothers.The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the Dialysis Center of Oneida for the excellent care and compassion given to Ernestine for the past seven years.Graveside funeral services will be held in the Spring of 2024 at a date and time to be announced in the family plot at Oneida Castle Cemetery, with the Reverend Michael Usborne, officiating.
