Frederic N. Rann

Frederic N. Rann, 88, of Oneida, died Monday, July 10, 2023 in Rome Hospital, where he had been a patient for the past three days.Born in Oneida, on September 19, 1934, he was the son of Thomas and Dorothy C. Nugent Rann. A lifelong resident of Oneida, Fred was a graduate of Oneida High School, Class of 1952, St. Lawrence University and Albany Law School.Fred practiced law for over sixty years, originally joining the late John Smith as a partner and then as a sole practitioner. During the administration of the late Mayor Herbert Brewer, he served as the City of Oneida's city attorney. Fred was a member of the Madison County and New York State Bar Associations, the National Rifle Association, the Oneida Rifle Club and was an avid outdoorsman, hunter and fisherman.Surviving are his close friends, Jim Dence and his family and the Nye family.Funeral services will be held privately from the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Main Street, Oneida, with the Reverend Michael Usborne, officiating.
