Maria Magdalena Erdo

1937 - 2023

ONEIDA-Maria Magdalena Erdo, 85, of Oneida, passed away, Saturday, May 6, 2023, at the Extended Care Facility, Oneida. Maria was born August 22, 1937 in Komarom, Hungary and came to the United States during the Hungarian Revolution in 1956. She met and married her husband of 58 years, Ernest, who passed away in 2016. Maria was a devoted mother to her children as well as to others who needed her embrace and care. She enjoyed traveling, reading, needlepoint, gardening and especially cooking for her family and friends. She was a member of the Homemaker's Club in Stockbridge and the First Presbyterian Church in Oneida. Maria is survived by her four children, Peter of Delray Beach, FL, Maria Erdo of Sherrill, Julie (Brian) Mazzaferro, Ava, NY, Kathleen Erdo of Oneida; and four grandchildren, Jacqueline, Stephen, Joshua, and Samuel. She is predeceased by her beloved daughter-in-law, Victoria. There will be a visitation for Maria on Thursday, May 11, 2023 from 12 PM to 1:30 PM, at the Coolican-McSweeney & Paul Funeral Home, 322 Washington Avenue, Oneida. A funeral service will follow visitation with Pastor Michael Yeoman, officiating. Interment will be made in Valley View Cemetery. Personal and Professional care for Maria and her family is being provided by Jeffrey T. Paul, Director, of the Coolican-McSweeney & Paul Funeral Home.
