Phillip A. Simzer

Vernon-Phillip A. Simzer, age 80, of School Street passed away peacefully early Thursday morning December 1, 2022 at the Pines at Utica Center of Nursing after a short stay. He was born on April 8, 1942 in Watertown, New York a son of the late Christopher and Thelma (Brown) Simzer and attended Ogdensburg Free Academy. On January 19, 1964 Phil and Sharon Cresswell were united in marriage in Vernon, New York and shared that vow of over fifty-seven years together. Prior to his retirement Phil was employed with Vernon Downs Security Department from 1975-2011 and the Madison County Sheriffs Correctional Department from 1990 to 2008. His son Phillip Jr. and his grandchildren were his pride and greatest joy. Phil loved watching his grandchildren play sports and spending time with them. Surviving are his wife Sharon Simzer, his pride; son Phillip Jr., his greatest joys, his grandchildren, Zachary, Mason, Chelsea, Trevor and Kacie, great-grandson, Cooper Correnti, his siblings, Gary Simzer, Phyllison Eggleson, Patsy Hanson and Donna Cullison and many nieces and nephews. Phil was predeceased by his son Gregory Simzer in 1964, his parents, Robert and Thelma Simzer and brother, Richard Simzer. As per Phillip's wishes there will be no services.
