Richard J. Bowman

ONEIDA- Richard J. Bowman, 84, of Mott St., passed away on Monday, June 21, 2021, at Crouse Hospital following his admission, as a medical patient. Born in Oneida on October 28, 1936, he was the son of Edward and Alice Hammond Bowman. A lifelong resident of the area, Dick attended Oneida City Schools. He married Geraldine Lighthall on November 25, 1961, in the First United Methodist Church, Oneida. Prior to his retirement, Dick was employed with the former Oneida Heater Co., Inc. Following his retirement, he was with the United Methodist Church, as the custodian. Dick was a member of the First United Methodist Church, loved to play the lottery, ride his bike all year round, tell jokes, and especially loved his grandchildren. Surviving beside his wife Geraldine, are his two daughters, Lori (LeRoy Hollenbeck) Bowman and Jodi Bartlett both of Oneida; his son Brian (Ella) Bowman of Oneida; his nine grandchildren, Carla Greaney, Samantha (Chris) Bartlett, David (Kaylee) Bartlett, Molly (John) Bartlett, Becky Hollenbeck, Kevin (Ariel) Hollenbeck, Kyle Hollenbeck, Shannon Hollenbeck, and Morgan Hollenbeck; his seven great-grandchildren, Christopher, Clayton, Madelyn, Bella, Allyssa, Cearra, and Jerry; his brother, William Bowman of Dolgeville; and his three sisters, Margaret Mariano and Kathleen Wallace, both of Oneida and Eunice Adams of Utica. He was predeceased by and his son-in-law Davide Bartlett on March 6, 2013, six brothers, Edward, Albert, Ralph, James, Frances and Arthur Bowman and two sisters, Doris Joslyn and Merrilee Knapp. Funeral services will be held 1:30 PM, Monday from the Campbell-Dean Funeral, Home Inc., 260 Main Street, Oneida with Trish Johnson, officiating.
