Richard Northrup Obituary
He was born on Feb. 21, 1934 in Oneida, N.Y., a son of the late Leroy and Ruth (Churchill) Northrup and was a graduate of V.V.S. Central School class of 1954.
From 1954 to 1956 Richard proudly served his country with the U.S. Army.
On Aug. 6, 1960 Richard and Theresa A. Pawlikowski were united in marriage in Transfiguration Church of Rome and have shared over 52 years together.
Prior to his retirement in 1998 Richard was employed as a serviceman with Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation.
In his spare time Richard enjoyed camping at his camp on 3 Mile Bay on Lake Ontario. He was a member of St. Helena's Church of Sherrill, and its former Holy Name Society and the E. Hanifin Council 479 Knights of Columbus of Oneida. He was a proud supporter of the Sherrill Pop Warner Football where he gave freely of his time operating its concession stand for many years. He was a very active 35 year member of the Sherrill Fire Department.
Surviving are his wife, Theresa; four sons and one daughter-in-law, Richard and Anita Northrup and their son Luigi of Coopersburg, Pa., David Northrup of Sherrill, Douglas Northrup of Sherrill and his daughter Kala of Syracuse, Peter Northrup of Sherrill; and one daughter and son-in-law, Shawn and Aldo Della Sera of Clearwater, Fla. and their children, Alexandra and Dominic. Also surviving are many other relatives, too numerous to mention.
The family would like to thank all the nurses and doctors at St. Luke's Hospital for their compassionate care given to Richard during his stay at the hospital.
In lieu of flowers please consider donations in Richard's memory to the Sherrill Fire Department or a charity of one's choice.
Family and friends are invited to call on Monday from 4-7 p.m. at the Malecki Funeral Home Inc., 464 Sherrill Road, Sherrill. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Helena's Church, Primo Avenue, Sherrill. Spring burial will be in St. Helena's Cemetery, Oneida, N.Y.
