Charlotte Oakley Obituary
A native of Brooklyn, New York, Mrs. Oakley was the daughter of the late Charles and Wilhemina Werner Postel. Her children, Arthur Oakley, Ted Oakley, Gloria Soyka Davis and Diana Foster preceded her in death. Mrs. Oakley was a retired civil service employee from Mayport Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, FL. She enjoyed photography, was also an artist and a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church.
Survivors include a sister, Beryl Forsen, Potomac, Maryland, grandchildren, Kurt and Jan Oakley, Steve and Dave Soyka, Linda Riti, Cynthia Foster Graham and Brian Foster; seven great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, March 19, 2005 at Bernstein Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Knight officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Lexington United Methodist Church Building Fund, 308 S. Main Street, Lexington, SC 29072 or the Family Life Enrichment Center, 3450 High Shoals Rd., Bishop, GA 30621.
