Doris Maddox Obituary
A native of Jefferson, she was a daughter of the late Clifford T. and Viola Whitlock Nabers. She was a graduate of Athens Business School and retired from Georgia Power after thirty years. Mrs. Maddox was a member of the women of Georgia Power and the Athens Garden Club for many years. Mrs. Maddox was a longtime member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be Sunday, October 23, 2011 at 3 p.m. at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, WEST. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1 p.m. until service time.
Survivors include her husband, Duel Maddox; son, Jeffrey W. Maddox, of Athens, and his children, John T. "Bo" Maddox, 23, and Mamie C. Maddox, 21; daughter, Jan Maddox Kirby, and her husband, Chip Kirby, of Woodbridge, Va., and their children, Taylor Kirby, 15, and Trey Kirby, 10.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Tracy Fowler and the rest of the caring staff of Silverleaf Alzheimer's Care of Athens.
Memorials may be made to Prince Avenue Baptist Church Building Fund.
Lord and Stephens, WEST, is in charge of arrangements.

I know this is late, but I just heard about Doris's passing. I remember growing up with Jeffery, and all the fun we had. Duel always cut my hair, and Doris was a great role model. I remember some of the best times where when our families had our Christmas parties. I know she will be missed by Duel, Jeffery, and Jan.

Your family has been in my thoughts and prayers since I heard of your loss. I was out of the country at the time of the funeral. Doris was a special lady, and I have many fond memories of her through the years. I pray that God's comfort surrounds you now.

I have known Doris and Duel for the last several years at Silverleaf, Never a more loving couple. Duel's devotion to Doris was exemplary. I join those who mourn her passing. Much sympathy to all her family.
