Frances Bentley Obituary

Athens, GA - Frances Florence Bentley of Princeton Mill Road died Thursday, January 15, 2004. A native of Cobb County, Mrs. Bentley grew up in Cedartown and was a daughter of the late Mason J. and Ethel Butner Florence. Her brother, Harold N. Florence, preceded her in death. She was a graduate of the University of Georgia where she was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority, and a member and past president of the Heritage Garden Club and the Junior League of Athens. Mrs. Bentley also volunteered for the Meals-On-Wheels for the Council on Aging. She was a member of the Athens First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and was a member of the Joe Callaway Sunday School Class.
Survivors include her husband, Upshaw C. Bentley, Jr. of Athens; daughter, Ellen Bentley ten Haaf of Watkinsville; sons and daughters-in-law: Mason and Angie Bentley and John S. and Mary Bentley, all of Athens; sisters: Christine Houseal of Fripp Island, SC, Julia Gardner and Wilma Darbyshire both of Moultrie; and grandchildren: Christopher ten Haaf, Kathryn Bentley and Logan Bentley.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 18, 2004, at the Athens First Baptist Church with Dr. Bill Ross officiating. Interment will be private.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 at Bernstein Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Athens First Baptist Church, 355 Pulaski Street, Athens, GA 30601 or to the Athens Community Council on Aging, Inc., 135 Hoyt Street, Athens, GA 30601.
Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Joe Callaway Sunday School Class.
Bernstein Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
