Joel Jerry Edward Toole

Joel Jerry Edward Toole, 62, of Bogart died Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Saint Mary's Hospital in Athens following a brief illness.

Jerry was born in Winder, Barrow County, Georgia on April 24, 1953. He was the first child and the first son of Lois Chambers Toole and Johnny Joel Toole.

Jerry was a kind man who helped many over his lifetime. He enjoyed working on cars and using his hands. He was a mason for most of his life and always took pride in his work. He was loving, generous, and smart. Jerry always tried to teach people new things and loved to tell stories to anyone who would listen. He loved his family and cherished each one of them dearly.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Joel and Lois Toole; brother, Billy Toole; sister, Melissa Toole; and son, Chad Carter.

He is survived by a son, Chris Toole; a daughter, Susan Hardegree; four grandchildren; one great grandchild; two brothers, Mitchell Toole and Joe Toole; four sisters, Mary Toole Shedd, Alice LaPack, Jessie Lynn Horn, and Tina Toole Truelove; many nieces and nephews; and many close friends.

A memorial service will be held April 9, 2016 at Living Word Baptist Church in Bogart at 2 p.m.
