Joseph Crowley Obituary

Tucker - Mr. Joseph P. Crowley, Jr. of Tucker, died Friday, July 1, 2005, following a long illness. He was 85 years old. He was survived by his wife of 62 years, Louise C. Crowley; sisters, Wendell Reafler of Hawley, PA, Frances Green of Atlanta, Martha Sue Smith of Atlanta, and Alene Cassidy of Woodstock; brothers, Tunis Crowley of Loganville and Col. (Ret.) Ronald Crowley of Madison, AL; also fourteen nieces and nephews.
He was a member of his beloved Rehoboth Baptist Church for over 50 years, where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. At church, the children would always be looking for their candy; hence he was nicknamed the ìCandy Man.î He was retired from Southern Bell Company, where he was employed for 32 years. Mr. Crowley was a naval veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He took part in many of the major battles in the Pacific.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, July 5th, at Rehoboth Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Smith officiating. Interment will be at Floral Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, at A.S. Turner & Sons.

Our Deepest Sympathy to you and your family, Louise, Joe will be missed by all of his friends at Rehoboth

Linda and I want to express our deepest sympathy, sorrow and condolences to Joe's Family. He was truly one of a kind. I remember him as a jolly, caring man who never met a stranger. Our children remember him as the man who always gave them candy when they visited the church with their grandparents. He and Louise were very close to our parents (R.L. and Ruby Hill, Jack and Nola Jackson), and were a strong example of what Married folks should be like.

The world is so much greater because Joe lived the life he lived, and his passing is a great loss for the entire community.

If ever there was a man who will hear "Well done, Thou good and faithful servant" when he arrives in heaven, it surely is Joe Crowley. May God bless and keep you, his family, and pour His comfort and grace upon you.
