Matthew Hill Obituary
A native of Athens, Mr. Hill was the son of Jeffrey E. Hill and Lisa Stewart Hill of Watkinsville. He worked for the Georgia Department of Natural Resource as part of the stream survey team.
Survivors in addition to his parents include wife, Katharine Andrews Hill of Athens; brother, Jonathan Stewart Hill of Watkinsville; maternal grandmother, Martha Dewald of Decatur and maternal grandfather, Charles Ashley Stewart of Watkinsville.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Georgia River Network, 126 S. Milledge Ave, Athens, GA 30605 (www.garivers.org).
Online condolences may be offered at www.bernsteinfuneralhome.com.
Bernstein Funeral Home and Cremation Service is in charge of arrangements.

We just learned of Matt's death this morning at church from Gloria McDade and are so saddened by this news. We have such fond memories of all the canoe trips, the trip to Cumberland where he caught an Amarillo, and his coming to Lake Nothing fishing when he was fighting cancer. Our hearts go out for all of you.

That sweet boy. His name brings thoughts and memories of such a sweet boy. Always happy, a hard worker, and loved his friends, especially Kevin. He was a huge part of a first grade class that was my most memorable in 29 years of teaching. I am sorry that I did not know him as an adult but I will always remember how precious he was at age 6, such a sweet boy.
I am incredibly sorry for your loss and our loss, as well.

Matt will be terribly missed. I did not know him well, but many of my colleagues did, and are greatly saddened by his sudden passing. I knew him to be a gentle person, quiet and happy.
