Michael Petty Obituary
MANSFIELD: Michael Henry Petty, 60, passed away Sunday, November 3, 2013, at home after an extended illness.
Michael was born August 23, 1953, in Mansfield, to the late James Petty and Jane Catchings-Petty. Michael made Mansfield his home. He was a member of Mount Sinai Church for many of years.
Michael leaves to cherish in his memory two sons, Jason (Heather) Petty, of Mansfield and Adam (Kristyn) Petty, of Brunswick; grandchildren, Camryn and Addison Petty, both of Brunswick; four sisters, Ruby (Donnell) Haynes, Lizzy (Ben) Hardin, Delores (George) Woods, and Charlene Petty, all of Mansfield; a brother, Charles Petty, of Mansfield; step-father, Willard Whitson, of Mansfield; two step-sisters, Sheily Thompson and Evon Whitson, all of Mansfield; a step-brother, Michael Whitson, of Mansfield; a host of aunts, uncles, relative and friends.
Proceded in death by two brothers, Robert Petty and Willard Whitson Jr.
The services will be held Friday, November 8, 2013, at 11 a.m., with one hour prior calling at Shiloh Full Gospel Baptist Church, 130 East Second St., with Bishop William Morris Jr. officiating. The burial will follow at Mansfield Cemetery.
The family has entrusted Small's Funeral Services with the arrangements.

I had always wondered what happen to Mike and how he was doing. I'm so sorry to hear of your loss and to learn about him this way. I liked Mike and had a very high respect for him. We were fierce competitors on the basketball court. That competiveness turned into respect for each other and a friendship. I have thought of him often in the past 40 years since graduation from high school. May he rest in peace in Jesus's loving arms and may God grant you comfort in the loss of your very special loved one.

Mike and I were classmates and since my maiden name started with "P" we were always close together. We had fun. Words seem inadequate to express the sadness I feel for you during your time of great loss.
