Robert Scoggins Obituary
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 6, 2017, at Chester Freedom Ministries with the Rev. Steve Bishop officiating. Interment will be private.
The family will receive friends any time at the home of Bryan and Barbara McDougald, McConnells, S.C., 29726.
Born Sept. 13, 1938, in Rock Hill, he was a son of the late Robert Glenn Scoggins Sr. and Mary Alice Edwards Scoggins. Mr. Scoggins attended Winthrop Training School and was a graduate of Rock Hill High School. He was self-employed as a musician for over 56 years and loved Bluegrass and gospel music. Mr. Scoggins was retired from The Pump Company in Charlotte, N.C., and was a welder. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the Rock Hill American Legion Post 34.
Mr. Scoggins is survived by his wife of 55 years, Nancy Brakefield Scoggins; one son, Michael Charles Scoggins of McConnells; two daughters, Margaret Lynn Scoggins of Rock Hill and Barbara Scoggins McDougald (Bryan) of McConnells; one brother, John Lawrence Scoggins (Marty) of Pawleys Island, S.C.; one sister, Susan Scoggins Harmon of Greenville, S.C.; four grandchildren, Morgan M. Shirley, Paige Scoggins, Madison McDougald and Brant McDougald; and one great-granddaughter, Avery Kate Shirley.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Timothy Brakefield Scoggins and John Robert Scoggins; and two grandchildren, John Tyler Scoggins and Kaelin Reid McDougald.
Memorials may be made to Antioch U.M.C., 930 W. Rambo Road, Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Bobby was just a good hearted, down to earth, sincere man! The Scoggins family will always have a special place in my heart. I grew up in the dove fields with Bobby and his Daddy and learned valuable lessons from them both! Here's hoping the family will find comfort at this difficult time!!

I had the pleasure of playing some really good music with Bob at Blackstock Station in its early days. He worked hard at making that place a good music venue. Rest in Peace my friend....
