Doris Rohl

Doris "Dorie" Marie (Cerutti) Rohl, age 92, of Yorba Linda, CA, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2020 at Loving Hands Care in Yorba Linda. She was born in Brockway, PA to Dr. Louis and Rose (Marnatti) Cerutti. Doris was the youngest of 4 children. All preceded her in death. She received a BS degree in Music from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA in 1946 and continued her education at UCLA and Pepperdine. As a teacher , she brought the joy of music to her many students over the years. In 1957, Doris married Purl "Ed" Rohl who predeceased her in 1988. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, an international women's social, cultural, and service organization and an active member of Saint Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Yorba Linda. After retiring from her teaching career in 1983, Dorie was an energetic and enthusiastic crafter, volunteer and lifelong learner. Her talents were many: pampering her roses, entertaining, traveling, playing the piano at holiday parties and starting a craft business. Her garage became a colorful workshop full of paints and fabric and materials for her many projects. As a beloved member of the Catholic women's group WINGS, she held several positions throughout the years. She looked forward to planning and hosting birthday parties for friends with upwards of 30 people attending at various interesting places around Orange County. Her cakes, topped with strawberries, no matter the flavor, were always a hit, as were her handmade party favors and craft items. At Saint Martin de Porres, Doris was a member of the Seniority Club and volunteered weekly at Mary's Kitchen packaging meals for the homeless. She was awarded Catholic Woman of the Year in 2014. Doris loved life, was loved by all, and will be missed by her many friends and family. She is survived by nieces Alyson Kleiber (James), Kathleen Sher, (Joel), and Donna Simon (George); nephew Mark Reed; step-son Steve (Stephanie) Rohl, step-daughter Nancy (Bob) Preskitt, and numerous grandchildren, grandnieces, great grandchildren, and many loving, devoted friends. A funeral mass is planned for October 28th, 2020 at 10:30 am at Saint Martins de Porres Church, 19767 Yorba Linda Boulevard, Yorba Linda followed by interment at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Orange. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Doris's name to Saint Martins de Porres Church.
