John David Pavlik

1950 - 2018

Pavlik, John David, of Aliso Viejo, was born in Sewickley, Pennsylvania on April 3, 1950. He passed away in Aliso Viejo, California on February 10, 2018.
After moving to California after high school, John joined the Navy in September 1969. He served as a radar and radio operator on the USS Basilone, traveling to many countries during his service, including a stint in Vietnam.
On his return to civilian life, John married Helen and together had two sons, Shawn and Thomas, and moved to Corona, California. John worked briefly for Cal-Trans before joining the service and returned to that job upon his release from the military. Eventually he went into surveying, a career he developed a passion for.
John started his career in surveying in 1974 as an engineering aide. He rose up the ranks, through hard work and education, to his final position as manager of the Right of Way Engineering section for the county of Orange. He retired from this position in January, 2013 on Elvis's birthday, after 38 years of service.
For all who knew John, you know he had many facets and hobbies, including jet skiing, sailing, hiking, camping, golf, and his favorite pastime, cruising. John embodied the best of humanity - he was kind, caring, passionate and loving. He was always there for a friend and was a party planning genius. He will be greatly missed.
John is survived by his loving sons, Shawn and Thomas Pavlik; his grandchildren, Trey, Connor, Ava and Lucy; his devoted sister, Diane Pavlik; and the love of his life, Judy Pavlik.
