John joined the Boeing Company, Huntington Beach, CA in 1985 as an analytical chemist. He worked on thermal control coatings, and corrosion and contamination control for the International Space Station, Delta, Titan IV and Delta IV rocket programs. Well John now I know why I couldn't find you on facebook, this wasn't what I wanted to find out but explains everything. So sorry to hear this remember you so well. We went on many adventures skiing, sailing, diving bike riding, we met at Ciba Geigy me small town boy from Michigan and John the native Californian. John left Ciba Geigy finished his chemistry degree at Long beach State (with the highest GPA in his class) then got job at McDonnell Douglas (Boeing) later John put in a good word for me and I ended up their also. I left for Seattle in 1991 took up climbing, cant believe John also took up Mountain climbing from reading looks to be about same time. Well I finally retired and was going to see if my old buddy maybe up for some adventure and that why I was trying to find him. This news is very sad John was one of the best people I have ever known - Rest in peace John will miss you Keith

John, what a great guy! Fun, respectful, a big brother to me throughout high school. May the wonderful memories he shared with those who knew him be an inspiration to our future generations. He conquered the highest mountain here on earth and now has conquered God's highest plateau. Rest in Peace John and may God comfort the hearts of those who loved and knew him.

when my sister and i first moved to fountain valley he was the first person we met, he became a good friend, i knew he was smart when he sat next to me in science, he always top my score. i will never forget how he got the highset grade in the class. i always wondered how he was doing, and thought what a lucky guy to do so much with his life, I guess god had higher mountains for him to climb in heaven, god bless all his family

Many years ago I lost a brother-in-law on the same mountain. I feel your pain and can only hope that you are able to take some comfort in that he was doing something he loved. My prayers are with you.

How cool to live a life so full of adventure and die doing something you love. Tragic loss of life, but what an awesome life he has lived! So many people watch life pass them by John obviously wasn't one of them. Maybe he was too young but he obviously lived life to the fullest. RIP and GODSPEED!
