John Whaling Obituary

JOHN (JACK) ARTHUR WHALING 1916 - 2005 Jack Whaling, a longtime veteran of the HVAC industry and founder of his namesake sales representative company, died of congestive heart failure on Jan. 26, 2005 in Glendale, CA. He was 88. Jack was born Feb. 8, 1916 in Los Angeles, CA, third of eight children. Jack is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Joy of Eagle Rock, CA; 3 daughters, Karen (Darrell) Meddings of Glendale, CA, Jacki Palmer of Laguna Niguel, CA and Joani (Dave) Ingoldsby of Glendale, CA; brother Tom Whaling; sister Kathryn Judd; 7 grandchildren Brad, Jeanne Baysinger and Julie Curtis; Renee and Geoff Palmer; Tom and Holly Ingoldsby and 4 great grandchildren Jason and Tanya Baysinger; Karen and Heath Curtis. Jack was an All American. He played baseball and even pitched batting practice for the Chicago Cubs in 1938, he had held a 1964 Guinness world record for catching the largest Pacific Blue Marlin and he was an avid golfer. Jack started his business career with the Southern CA Gas Company and then onto Holly Mfg. General Controls, Payne Co. & Zero Mfg. before beginning his own manufacturers' sales respresentative agency. Funeral services will be held at 11:00a.m. Jan. 29, 2005 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Montrose, CA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Red Cross, P.O. Box 37243 Washington, D.C. 20013 or on-line at www.redcross.org or your own favorite charity. Assisting the family with funeral arrangements is Crippen Mortuary, La Crescenta, CA (818)249-6131.
