Paul Kent Smith, age 83, passed away on December 25, 2021, from Alzheimer's. He was born at the Cottage Hospital in Fullerton on July 10, 1938. He attended Fullerton schools, graduating from Fullerton High School in 1956, where he played on the water polo team. He served in the U.S. Army and Army reserves for six years. He was a member of the Fullerton First Christian Church where he served in many capacities through the yearslastly as the co-chair of the tri-tip team that served sandwiches at the downtown Fullerton Market on Thursday nights. He met his loving wife of 59 years, Eloise, in the church youth group in the 1950s. He was employed by the City of Fullerton for 33 years, where he served as the Traffic Engineer, retiring in 1995. Following retirement, he and Eloise traveled extensively. In addition, he worked for 20 years at the Orange County Fair each summer in guest services. He loved fishing and woodworkingmaking his own custom rods for deep-sea fishing. He is survived by his wife, Eloise, daughter, Kimberlee Smith-Grime of Fullerton, granddaughter Kristyn Grime, of Fullerton, and niece, Jan McCuen of Brea. Paul was predeceased by his parents, Howard and Mary Smith, and his brother, Harold Stubblefield. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
