Leann, I was a law clerk for 1 year at Hibbard, Caldwell, when Ron was a partner there in the late 1980's. I really enjoyed talking to Ron about his cases and doing legal research, and found him to be an inspiration for me as I was entering the legal profession.

Leann and Family, I knew Ron for many years and the best thing I can say is that I considered him a "friend". He was a very special person who I will very much miss. A person's life is not valued in years, but in their contributions. While Ron's years were short by most standards, his contributions were large and valued.

Leann, we were so saddened to hear about Ron's passing. So many memories of the two of you while you lived in our neighborhood. It was always a treat to visit with the two of you while working in your yard even after you moved. Our hearts and prayers are with you and your wonderful family. From your neighbors "across the street".

Professional and courteous -always a smile . A great tribute to his profession. We had a number of cases -but never was there any game playing or acrimony.
A loss to the profession -a loss of a friend

LeAnn and daughters, I had the priviledge of playing football and basketball with Ron at L&C in 62/63 and have the fondest of memories of his skill, competiveness and graciousness. He was a wonderful person. Our deepest sympathies, Bill & Jan.

To all of Ron's family--you have to be amazing people to have been his family! I had the privilege of clerking for the late Judge Kathleen Nachtigal her first 8.5 years on the bench, and we always knew we were in for a well-presented case when Ron was on the docket--no muss, no fuss--just a true gentleman who knew how to advocate for his clients without having to cause a spectacle. When I went to work for attorneys in the private sector, it was always the same marvelous treat--to work with someone you truly respected and trusted. And Ron always had a moment to "check in"--exchange personal greetings, make sure everything was okay--we will indeed miss him in our work arenas, and I'm sure his home is aching with silence from his departure. Rest in the Peace you brought to so many clients for so many years--yes, you went way too soon--God must have some very special project Up There for you! Warmest wishes to all the Hergerts,

I am a domestic relations lawyer who had several cases with Ron over the years, and also would see him at the Clackamas County Family Law lunches. Dealing with Ron was always a pleasure. He was honest and compassionate and professional. His word was his bond, and he genuinely cared about people. We were blessed to have Ron in our legal community.
I also remember seeing Ron at one of the prayer breakfasts at the Bar Convention in the early 1980s. He was a man of faith and he lived out his faith in a quiet, humble manner. He dearly loved his wife, children, and grandchildren. A few months ago he told me what a pleasure it was, to wake up in the mornings with enthusiastic grandchildren in his home.
I know Ron is in a better place now, but he will be sorely missed until his family and friends can join him there. He let his light shine, and we are all better for having known him.

The character and integrity Ron displayed throughout his life far outshown his many awards. The National Football Foundation & Hall of Fame Portland Chapter was honored to have him as its first Scholar Athlete...an organization he continued to support for 50 years. The Man of Integrity walks securely...now on streets of gold.

Louis and I remember Ron as one of the most generous, wise, loving, fun, spiritually strong and devoted of men. His life was a blessing to all who knew him and we feel so honored to be among that number. Our hearts are with you, LeAnn, and with your children. We offer this candle for the repose of Ron's soul on All Saints Day and forever in God's Kingdom.

Ron was our attorney, but with that he was someone who listen, cared and adviced with the good and the bad. He really never took sides, he was a fair person in all aspect, even though he was there to make it as best as possible for you. We will never forget the words that made him a very special person to us. Quote: The kids will know even though you don't think they will. Well Ron you were right. Thank You. OUR PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU AND YOUR FAMILY. We feel you are in a very amazing place and will be missed.

I saw this in the paper this morning and recalled that Ron was our attorney when we were asked to return our baby to the birth mother months after we had her. Ron cautioned us that the odds were not in our favor. He worked hard making all of the convincing arguments he could and a month later, by God's help, we were granted parental rights. Our beautiful daughter just turned 30 and has given us 3 wonderful grandkids. I imagine there are many other family cases Ron has helped with. He was an answer to many prayers for us. God bless you.

I know I speak for many who knew Ron back in his Jefferson High School days growing up on N.E. 7th Ave. and coming into my dad's store on Union and Failing. He was bright and upbeat his entire life. And he brought that rare personality to all who knew him as a lawyer and as a friend. You are truly with Christ and that peace is with us all as we try to follow your example on how to treat one another.
