I wish to extend my sympathies to the Burnett family and express my honor in having known Al. In 2002 we were introduced through a neighbor in Rockport, related to a candidate who he supported. Over the next few years we would connect and discuss the political climate in Maine and he would financially support causes in his second home state of Maine. I enjoyed our discussions and the brief visits we had. I called him this summer as I wanted to share the results of the last legislative session and thank him for his faithful support, unfortunately we did not get together before his passing but, I want you to know his support of our state is greatly appreciated, and we are better for having him as a part time resident and will miss him as a friend.
Sincerely,
Rep. Andre Cushing, Asst. House Majority Leader

Although we did not know Mr. Burnett personally, our son attends the Burnett Honors College at UCF. The Burnett Honors college is why he chose UCF and he loves it. Thank you so much for giving to UCF and the community. Our prayers and thoughts are with your family.

"Big Al" As many remember him for his big heart and giving nature more than his stature. He and wife Nancy, were very generous to his employees of Contemporary Cars , Inc. and were the life of every Christmas and summer party, where money seemed no object as long as his employees were shown his appreciation for their hard work though the year. This generosity was shown, when he and associates started a bank and he purchased himself an ounce of gold. Upon realizing that his employees would likely never indulge themselves that luxury each of his over 100 employees received an ounce of gold and in years to follow many received a total of three ounces. I had lost touch with Al & Nancy but have never forgotten their most kind and humble ways. Thanks for the memories.
