Allen Trovillion Obituary

Ray "Allen" Trovillion passed away peacefully at home, December 8, surrounded by his family that loved him so much. Allen was born May 1,1926, in Winter Park, FL, to Pearl Proctor Trovillion and Ray Allen Trovillion, Sr. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Vicki; his children Barbara, Tim, Sandy, Davey, Missi, Mandi, and Monte; 22 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; a nephew Tom and a niece Martha. His son Doug is deceased and preceded him in death.

Allen lived a long, full life. With his roots firmly planted in Winter Park, Ray "Allen" Trovillion began his journey of making a difference in this community at a young age. He attended Winter Park High School, then the University of Florida as a member of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity, where he received a Bachelor of Building Construction. Allen was also a World War II Veteran in the Army Air Corps.Allen served as Mayor of Winter Park from 1962-1967. He left a legacy of landmarks that we can point out as we drive around Winter Park today. These structures came from his hard work and design, and many of them serve a specific purpose in our everyday lives. He was outspoken and very proud about having had the opportunity to build much of the Winter Park community and areas around Central Florida. Elected in 1994, he proudly served as State Representative in the Florida House of Representatives, representing the people of Winter Park for eight years. He was a true Statesman. He loved telling stories about his childhood and swimming the local lakes with the alligators. Allen loved the trees he planted that now stand 60ft tall. During his time in the legislature he was on the Tourism Committee and visited most all of the parks in the state.

Allen always had a truly impactful presence. He displayed the epitome of school spirit proudly wearing orange and black as a Winter Park Wildcat on and off the football field and orange and blue as a University of Florida Gator fan.

He was an excellent golfer and played many courses in the Central Florida area. He was very involved in his children's sports activities, and their biggest cheerleader. He coached both little league and high school baseball and was a Scout Master for the Boy Scouts of America.

He was a Winter Park Rotary Club member and served on many boards and organizations.

However, the true pride that Allen displayed first and foremost, was his unwavering love for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Nothing meant more to him than showing others the love of Jesus and displaying a Christlike character to all of those in contact with him. Ray "Allen" Trovillion was a builder, but not just a builder of our l community. More importantly, he was a builder of the Kingdom. Whether he was addressed as Mayor, Dad, husband, or Papa, he was always a good and faithful servant first.

Dear Vicki and family,

Allen was a great man and a wonderful model of what it means to be a follower of Christ. He is greatly missed.
Allen was for many years a Board member of Westminster Communities of Florida, and in that role positively impacted the lives of tens of thousands of Florida´s older adults.
