C. Hippler Obituary

Hippler, Jr., C. Harold C. Harold Hippler, Jr. ("Hip"), 82, of Fort Lauderdale passed away peacefully on June 13, 2015. Harold was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather & friend. He was born on May 17, 1933 in Orlando, and grew up in Eustis, FL. Predeceased by his mother and father, Lucille & C. Harold Hippler, Sr., brothers, Jack & Jim and sister, Lucille ("Sis"). As a native Floridian, Harold attended Eustis High School, was active in sports, student government, Boys State & Kiwanis and was a proud Eagle Scout. He attended the University of Florida graduating in 1955 with a Business Administration degree. At UF, Harold was president of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity, a member of Florida Blue Key and is a member of the University of Florida Hall of Fame. Participating in the ROTC program, he served the U.S. Army as a 1st Lieutenant stationed in Hannau, Germany. He spent his entire career of 37 years with Deloitte and retired in 1993 as the Managing Partner of the Fort Lauderdale office. Harold enjoyed his retirement with his wife of almost 55 years by traveling the world visiting over 60 countries, spending time with his family and sharing his love of history during "Grandparents' Week" every summer visiting cities such as Boston, London, Philadelphia, Gettysburg & DC. He volunteered throughout his working & retirement years for many organizations including the University of Florida Fisher School of Accounting (Advisory Board Member Emeritus), University of Florida President's Council, United Way of Broward County, Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce, Broward County School Board, Broward Education Foundation, Bonnet House & more. He was a member of Coral Ridge Country Club and previously served on the Board of Governors for the Tower Club. A true southern gentleman, he will be missed by all who knew him. Harold is survived by his wife, Joan, daughter, Caryl (Ralph Johnson) of Brentwood, TN, sons Chance of Gainesville, FL & Clark (Sandy) of Palm Beach Gardens, a grandson & granddaughter and additional extended family. A family memorial service was held on June 16th at First Presbyterian Church of North Palm Beach. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the University of Florida Fisher School of Accounting or Cystic Fibrosis, Gold Coast Guild.

Prayers and condolences to Hippy's family. so sorry to hear of his passing. I too attended Eustis High School and in the graduation class of 1951. He was a wonderful person.

So sorry to hear of Hippy's passing. We were in high school together in 1950 and and graduating in 1951 at Eustis High School. Hippy was such a nice person and a friend of everyone. My condolences to his family.

Joan so very sorry for your loss! Hippy and his family lived across the street from my family in Eustis! My sister brother and myself enjoyed all the fun a kid could have playing with Sissy and Hippy! Oh to be a kid again! You and Hippy also lived across the street from my Mother in Law Evelyn Bruns Leesburg fl. Our prayers are with you!!
