C. McNulty Obituary

Chester Howard McNulty was born in Melbourne, Florida on December 12th, 1935

and died in Jacksonville, Florida on March 28th, 2022.

"Howard," as he was known, graduated from Melbourne High, where he starred in

football, basketball, and baseball. He received a BSBA from the University of Florida

and a JD from Florida Law School. While at Florida, Howard was president of both

his social fraternity, Sigma Nu, and his legal fraternity, Phi Delta Phi. He was Chairman

of Gator Growl, played varsity baseball, was a member of Florida Blue Key, and was

enshrined in the UF Hall of Fame. Howard practiced law with U.S. Senator Lawton

Chiles before returning to the banking industry, eventually becoming President and

CEO of Flagship Banks. He played a significant role in the merger of Flagship Banks

and SunBank, before co-founding Enterprise Bank of Winter Park in 1989. He served

as its chairman and president until retiring in 1994.

Howard was an avid golfer and a lifelong Gator fan, but what he valued most was his

family. He met the love of his life, Sylvia Maxwell of Jacksonville, while alphabetically

seated next to her in a Humanities class at Florida. Howard is survived by Sylvia, his

wife of 64 years; his children, Thad McNulty (Virginia), Laurie Bartholomew (Scott),

Paul McNulty (Lanie), and Shannon Hardington (Ian); his grandchildren, Taylor

McNulty, Court McNulty, Ginny McNulty, Mary Ann McNulty (William Leeser), Kalie

Bartholomew, Shannon Bartholomew, Larsen Bartholomew, Sophie McNulty, George

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Mr. McNulty. He was always so kind to me growing up. He had an amazing life, and his family is his "trophy" as he has crossed the finish line, and rests with our Father. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Much love, Kim
