David Milov Obituary

Dr. David E. Milov, 67, of St. Petersburg, passed away on August 20, 2023. Born October 5, 1955, in Chateauroux, France, he was the first-born child to Margarita (McGrane) Milov and Gerald Milov. His childhood was spent in Miami and Miami Beach Florida, graduating from Miami Beach High School in 1973. He graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in 1977. He went on to earn an MD degree, completing his specialty training in Pediatric Gastroenterology in 1989 at the University of Florida Shands Teaching Hospital. During his training he was recognized for his performance by being named Chief Resident in Pediatrics. In 1989 he became a Pediatric Gastroenterologist at the Arnold Palmer Hospital for children in Orlando, Florida. Dr Milov subsequently became a respected pediatric gastroenterologist at the newly established Nemours Children's Hospital in Orlando, Florida. Dr Milov continued with his clinical practice while obtaining additional training in clinical Informatics, eventually becoming the Chief Informatics Officer for Nemours Children's Hospital. In November of 2012, he was awarded "Top 25 Clinical Informaticists" He retired in 2013. Dr. Milov was an avid Florida Gators' fan and was tremendously proud of his time spent at the University of Florida in Gainesville but perhaps his happiest moments in Gainesville were those spent with his two daughters, Sarah and Joelle who were born there during his medical training. He is survived by his wife, Lourdes Aviles, his daughter, Sarah Milov (Kyrill), his daughter, Joelle Milov (William); his stepchildren, with whom mutual adoration was shared, Angel and Jomar; his grandchildren, Vivian Kun-Milov, Leon Kun-Milov, Henry Shuck and Eleanor Shuck; his mother, Margarita Milov; his brothers, Laurence Milov (Magfalda), Alexander Milov, and Nicholas Milov (Kimberly) and numerous nieces and nephews. Dr. Milov will be remembered by family and friends for his unfailing sense of humor, generosity, and love of music. He will also be remembered by his many young patients and their families whose lives he touched with his kindness and generous spirit. He was loved dearly and will be missed beyond description...
