David Pennington Obituary

PENNINGTON, DAVID LEE, entered Heaven on March 8, 2011. He was an inspiration to all as he fought a courageous battle with brain cancer with peace in his heart and a smile on his face.
David was married to the love of his life, Rose, for 38 years. He also adored his son, Jay Collins, and daughters Kristie Hershner (Bryce), and Katie Pennington. His grandchildren Jesse, Journee, Leah, Maegan, Ryan and Christian were his pride and joy. David was born on July 19, 1947, in Battle Creek, Michigan to Rosemary Sumner and the late Richard Pennington. He is survived by his brothers Larry
Pennington (Anne), and Ron
Pennington (Sheryl); sister Denise Hawley (Dave); and sister-in-law Nancy Beasley. David was an accomplished piano tuner in the area for 40 years, and his customers became his friends. He loved the Lord and enjoyed singing in various musical groups. He will be greatly missed by his fellow choir members, as well as his large and loving family. His life will be celebrated in a service at Asbury United Methodist Church, 220 W. Horatio Avenue, Maitland, Florida on Sunday, March 13th at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Russell Home for Atypical Children in Orlando.

I will always have nothing but fond memories of Dave. I just scheduled an appointment to have my piano tuned this coming Monday by the gentleman who took over Dave's customers In this area. God bless his family and his memory. Walter followed him in death in 2012.

To the Penningtons - this is JoAnne Lively, and I lived at the end of S. Shore Road growing up, you all lived closer to Holden. Larry, you and David and Denise were a large part of my childhood. I am so sorry about David's death - I hope all of his family are doing well.

Mrs. Pennington, I was one was Dave's customers. He was such a blessing to me and later my family. He was especially kind when I first moved to Orlando as a single missionary on missionary support and needed my piano tuned. I was pretty broke, but I had just enough for a tuning. Then a string broke unexpectedly! I figured I'd pay for it somehow, but when he was done, he said because I didn't ask him for a discount, he decided to replace it as an offering to the Lord. That was HUGE for me! He was part of God reminding me that HE is in control of everything in my life, even the unexpected things. I am so sorry for your loss. Dave will be greatly missed by many. I look forward with you to seeing him again one day!

Rose, I remember Dave working on pianos down at DC Moore & Son many years ago, and he always had a smile for me and said, "Hey, Jimmy how's it going?" Karen , Jerri and I will keep you in prayer as you cope with your loss. Jim Jones, Allegro Music Casselberry

I was extremely saddened to learn of Dave's passing. I had expected his always-cheeful annual call this month to tune the piano. His natural charm and presence of spirit will be missed by so many. My deepest condolences to his family at this most difficult time.

Rose,Kristie & Katie,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May your memories bring you comfort. I will never forget the day he found a paino for me. He would always call before tuning it to make sure all my teddy bears were off :>) and that was over 20 years. I will never forget him...he was so special.

We were saddened to hear of Dave's death but know that he is no longer suffering. He tuned our piano for years and I was priviledged to be able to recomend him to others. We will always remember his smile and sense of humor. Our prayers are with his wife and family at this sad time.
