Dorothea Willis Obituary

WILLIS, DOROTHEA FARR, 83, of Winter Park, passed away August 7, 2002. She was born in Buffalo, NY and moved with her family to the Orlando area in 1926. Mrs. Willis enjoyed 45 years as a teacher, principal and Elementary Supervisor for Orange Co., with involvement in a variety of state and local educational organizations. She was an active life-time member of The Cathedral Church of St. Luke, serving as a Chapter Member, a lay Eucharistic minister, and a member of St. Elizabeth's Guild. She was on the board for the Young Women's Community Club and served in various capacities as an active member of Sorosis. Mrs. Willis is survived by her daughter, Ruth Jane Taylor (Wally); grandsons James (Stephannie) and Jeffrey (Tammy); four great grandchildren, sister Ruth Isbell (Billy), sisters-in-law Frances Jane (M.T.) and Bernice Williams; and eight nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at The Cathedral Church of St. Luke Monday, August 12 at 1PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Sorosis College Scholarship Fund, 501 Livingston, Orlando, FL 32803. Arrangements handled by CAREY HAND COLONIAL FUNERAL HOME.

I knew Dorothea when I was with the Orange County School District. She was truly a gracious lady and an outstanding educator.
