F. Duke Torbert, 85, passed away on July 21, 2021. Born on June 24, 1936, in Smyrna, Georgia, Duke grew up in Columbia, South Carolina. He held a Degree in Physics from the University of South Carolina, and after two years of postgraduate work at USC, he moved his family to Orlando, where he was employed by Martin-Marietta Corporation.

Duke had many interests in his life including growing orchids, officiating at swim meets, skate dancing, square dancing, working the daily crossword puzzle, and travel, after his retirement. His greatest joy was singing and he sang in church choirs much of his adult life. In later years, he also performed with The Downtowners and Young at Heart singing groups.

Duke is survived by Patricia, his wife of 64 years, children Frank (Paula), Mary (Mike), Andrea (Tim), and David (Terry), 11 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild, all of whom he was very proud and loved dearly. He will be greatly missed by his family. Service will be held at the Chapel at Lutheran Towers, 300 E. Church Street, Orlando, FL 32801 on Saturday, August 7 at 10:30am.
