Howard Mitchell Hearn

Howard Hearn Obituary

HEARN, HOWARD MITCHELL, 58, died Feb. 19, 2008. Mitch served in the US Marine Corps and was honorably discharged after serving in Vietnam. He graduated from St. Cloud High School. Mitch loved animals and tamed a squirrel to sit and ride on his shoulder. His beloved Smokey, a black labrador mix and Scootch, a small mutt, were trained to do just about anything he wanted them to do. Along with a variety of cats there was a mutual respect among the species. His many works involved carpentry, roofing and wrought iron. He loved the outdoors and preferred a lifestyle of peace and quiet. He was well-read in areas of agriculture and domestic animals. Recently he lived in Bellview, FL tending to some goats, cows, pigs and horses. He discovered computers a few years ago and was hooked from that time until his death. His learning the computer was phenomenal. With a challenging spirit he fell in love with the communications and contacts he was able to amass. He loved big numbers and would often spout statistics with a certain flair meant to impress. Mitch aka Moopups will be missed by the members of the Homesteading Today Forum and the volume of friends and contacts he made via the internet. He was preceded in death by parents, Howard and Stella Hearn. Survivors include sisters, Patricia Wimmer (Raymond) of Leesburg, VA and Marla (Bridget) Hearn of Minnesota; nieces, Lynne Anderson, Whitewood, SD, Teresa Corbin, Leesburg, VA; nephew Eric (Jennifer) Rimmer, American Fork, UT; uncles Rudy Hearn (Jeanne) of Chatham, VA, Jack McBurney (Alvadean) of St. Cloud, FL, Helen Hearn, St. Cloud, FL; numerous cousins across the country. Graveside services with full military honors by the US Marine Corps Honor Guard, Florida National Veterans Cemetery, Bushnell, Feb. 26th, 12:30PM.

Mitch~

Nothing I write will ever be the same thanks to you. You reminded me to take my time, say what I mean and be sure I was understood. That made such a difference in relating to my children, you will never know. Thank you always for reminding me to slow down and live, not just rush through and get it done.

You were the greatest friend I never met.

I'll never forget the brouhaha he started with his post on whether nurses were overpaid or the carrot threads - especially the carrot threads, lol. He also helped me to understand Asperger's from the inside out, which helped me to understand my own dd's struggles. Peace be yours, Mitch - no more medical problems, and no more carrots.
